A Georgian 18ct Gold snuff box, made by John Linnet 1823, Sheffield & London Hallmark. The box is engine turned all over, with floral edge front. The box was presented to Captain Lucas Percival, commanding the ship Abberton by the passengers that sailed with him from Bombay in 1825, as a small testimony of their sense of his liberal conduct and kindness. Captain Lucas Percival commanded the Abberton from 1818 - 1828 for the East India Company. Gifted by Douglas Williams a Reuters War correspondent to the Soares family in the British Virgin Islands in 1975. The box measures at approximately 8cm x 5cm x 2.2cm. Weight approximately 122.9 grams.
